Volunteers needed for Padgate Walking Day

0

VOLUNTEERS are urgently needed to ensure the annual Padgate Walking Day can take place as planned.

Due to a reduced commitment from Warrington Borough Council and Cheshire Police, a number of roads which are used by the schools and churches on Padgate Walking Day will not have ‘protected’ status along parts of the course of the procession.

The Walk organisers need 22 additional adult volunteer marshals to guard the junctions along those outlying roads.

Organisers are looking for volunteers to assist and give up two-three hours on the afternoon of Saturday, June 25 to marshal those junctions and help.

The marshals do not need to be affiliated to the council, police, churches or schools, but they should, if possible, attend a preliminary meeting which will be held at St.Oswalds Social Club on Padgate Lane, tomorrow (Wednesday June 15) at 7.30pm.

This meeting will be used to ‘on board’ the volunteer marshals. All volunteers are welcome.

If you would like to help but cannot attend the meeting, or if you just require more details, please contact the Chairman of the Padgate Walking Day organising committee, David McDonald, on 01925 251193 .
