A PHILEAS Fogg inspired collection of 80 traders and zany characters took over Warrington town centre today (Saturday).
Hosted by Warrington Market Around the World in 80 Traders was a celebration of world foods, unusual items, street theatre and a whole area dedicated to Steampunk.
The event included flying bicycles and traction engines to stilt walkers and fire performances, and more interesting foods than you could shake a map at.
There were steampunk stalls, attractions, entertainment and guests dressed in Victorian/Steampunk clothing including the Middlehurst family from Lymm.
Attempting to get around the world was the debonair Captain Monty Montague piloting a cabin cruiser whilst towing his gorgeous water skiing wife Minty who sailed down the “River of Life” on Bridge Street!
Radio Warrington, who are now broadcasting on medium wave on 1332 AM were also on hand to cover the event organised by Warrington Market manager Steve Pickering and his team.
“There was a great turn out of characters, including ones I hadn’t booked,” said Steve. “People just turned up and entered into the spirit of the occasion.”
The town centre will be buzzing again next Saturday (May 28th) for the annual Comic Con event which include a visit by Titan the Robot and various Superheroes.
