WARRINGTON will launch its contribution to Dementia Awareness Week tomorrow at networking organisation Life Time in Sankey Street.
A range of activities have been arranged by Warrington Housing Association including a film show.
The event starts at 10.30 am when the borough council’s Telecare and Carecall teams will be in attendance displaying equipment they provide to support people with dementia.
The aim is to encourage anyone worried about dementia to confront their concerns and get in touch with the Alzheimer’s Society.
Hundreds of thousands of families are touched by dementia every year and many people don’t know where to turn. But they don’t have to face it alone.
Cllr Pat Wright (pictured), the borough council’s lead member for health and adult social care, said: “I’m delighted to be supporting this event. I care passionately about doing as much as we can to tackle the impacts of dementia and in total 3,234 people have so far joined me in becoming Warrington Dementia Friends.
“This week is so important to raise awareness. Until the day we eradicate dementia we will work tirelessly to promote best practice across the care sector, to influence services in the town and to build the physical environment in Warrington to become dementia friendly”.
Anyone worried about dementia can call the National Dementia Helpline on 0300 222 1122 or email [email protected] for advice and
support.
