Vote today to decide who runs town for next four years

VOTING has started in the first “all-out” elections in Warrington for many years – elections which will decide who will run the borough for the next four years.
More than 150- candidates are seeking seats on the borough council – a council that will have 58 members following recent, controversial, boundary changes.
No party is contesting every seat but Labour, with 52, is fielding the largest number of candidates.
The Conservatives are fielding 45 and the Liberal Democrats 36, with the Green Party putting forward six.
Labour will have three former party members opposing them – two as independents at Rixton and Woolston and one – the controversial councillor Kevin Bennett – representing the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC).
TUSC is fielding five other candidates and – possibly reflecting the fact that Warrington has been named as the seventh most Euro-sceptic borough in the country – there are nine UK Independence Party candidates.
Voting continues until 10pm tonight, but the counting will take place tomorrow with the results not expected until around 6pm.
