MUSIC Production students at the  Warrington Campus of the University of Chester are celebrating with the news that their single reached number one in Amazon UK’s Movers and Shakers chart.
The single, In My Dream performed by Sarah Fido, was produced by students on the Commercial Music Production programme. It’s available to buy at tinyurl.com/hcvld9m
Each year a single is produced and released by students on the programme.
The song was performed live at the University’s annual Music Production Showcase which took place at Bar Twenty10 on the Warrington Campus the previous night. This major live music event featured some of the best new acts from across the region.
The evening offered a broad range of modern musical tastes. The sets ranged from traditional acoustic artists, through contemporary female vocalists, to hip hop and punk.
Head of media Dr Alec Charles said: “This was a great event – some really brilliant music. And I love the single – great composition, great production and of course great vocals – it’s fantastic that it’s done so well in the charts and received the recognition it truly deserves.”
BA Commercial Music Production and BA Music Production and Promotion programme leader Jim Mason added: “It was a great moment when Sarah was introduced to the stage to perform the already high in the charts single in the Amazon UK Movers and Shakers chart.
“The students have worked so hard to make this event a success and the enthusiasm and passion of the acts and crowd helped give them the event they deserved.”
