THE Labour Party’s deputy leader Tom Watson went on  the campaign trail in Warrington North this afternoon to meet residents in Rixton and Woolston.
He gave his backing to Labour candidates Andrew Hill, Tony McCarthy and Pat Wright ahead of the all-out elections on Thursday.
They were joined on the doorsteps by fellow Labour candidates Cathy Mitchell (Burtonwood and Winwick), Morgan Tarr (Orford), Amanda King (Great Sankey South), David Keane (Police and Crime Commissioner election) and Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft councillor Chris Vobe.
Tom Watson spent the afternoon in the Woolston sunshine, meeting residents and taking time out to discuss a range of issues with them – from the local anti-fracking campaign, to the council’s investment in the local Sensory Centre and the Woolston Hub.
Andrew Hill said: “Tony, Pat and I were delighted to welcome Tom to Rixton and Woolston ahead of this week’s crucial local elections. We are grateful that he took the time out of his schedule to lend us his support. Local people were really enthused at the opportunity to discuss a range of important issues with our deputy leader.”
A Warrington North Labour Party spokesperson added: “Thursday’s elections will be crucial for residents throughout Warrington North. Our diverse team of candidates represent a blend of experience and fresh ideas, and each of them is ready to take on the Tories in Westminster and fight to ensure our communities get the best deal.”
