Things that go bump in the night – at the museum

THINGS go bump in the night – especially at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery.
Culture Warrington and Blackwood Events acting group are giving the public a rare chance to test their bravery at the upcoming free event Rotten Luck, organised as part of Culture24’s Museums at Night bi-annual UK-wide festival.
On the spookiest night in May, Friday 13, visitors to the museum will be able to see the venue come to life as a cast of actors take them on a journey of corruption, torture and torment during a dark and mysterious period in the town’s past.
This eerie event, set among display cases featuring a mummy, a cursed head, and plenty of scary dolls, has three performances to choose from at 5.45pm, 6.30pm and 7.15pm and a haunting short film accompanied live by experimental electronica musicians.
It will be a social experience where visitors can get involved and delve deeper into fascinating subjects.
Only a limited number of tickets are available for this special event, so a quick call now to Pyramid & Parr Hall box office is essential.
The recommended age for the event at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery is 12 plus and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Derek Dick, outreach and engagement manager at Culture Warrington, said: “Museums at Night is a great event which we’re really pleased to be involved with here at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery.
“Anyone who comes along will see the building and its displays in a new light and will be given a rare insight into the spookier side of the town’s history.”
