UTC Warrington attracts another global employer partner

UNIVERSITY Technical College Warrington has attracted another global employer partner in the shape of Stanley Black & Decker’s, Stanley Engineered Fastening.

Stanley Black & Decker’s Stanley Engineered Fastening business has its main operations site based on Hardwick Grange, Woolston.

UTC Warrington will open in September 2016, as part of the Stadium Quarter development, and will specialise in engineering qualifications alongside traditional academic qualifications for students aged 14-19.

The agreement means that the team from Stanley Engineered Fastening will be able to offer students unique, hands-on opportunities within their business.

Steph Hutchinson, Marketing & Employer Engagement Manager at UTC Warrington said “Stanley Engineered Fastening are an excellent addition to the college’s broad array of employer partners.

“Their previous experience of working with young people will allow them to hit the ground running and the knowledge they bring with them will be invaluable”.

Globally, Stanley Engineered Fastening has 59 locations is every corner of the world from America to Australia and from Brazil to Japan.

Stanley Black & Decker is the world’s largest tools and storage company.

Russell Lodge, Manufacturing Continuous Improvements Manager said “Stanley Engineered Fastening are looking forward to developing an employee partnership with UTC Warrington.

“We are fully committed to supporting students by providing effective work experience, work placements, mentoring and coaching.

“Stanley Engineered Fastening are looking to identify talented individuals from within the local community through this business partnership.

“This will support future succession planning through the recruitment of technical apprentices in multiple Engineering disciplines.”

Stanley Engineered Fastenings join an already impressive list of over 50 employer partner businesses, including: Sellafield Ltd, Amec Foster Wheeler, Fujitsu, Unilever, Nuvia, Rolls Royce and Vinci, who are working with the college to ensure our students are work ready for the opportunities available.
