Town get chance to win league title in front of home fans

TABLE topping Warrington Town have a chance of winning the league title in front of their home fans when they play Prescot Cables at the Winner Recruitment Stadium this Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Town could have won the title without kicking a ball on Tuesday evening , had second placed Spennymoor Town dropped points at Mossley. But Spennymoor won 3-1, leaving them six points behind Warrington, with just two games to go, having played a game more.

Warrington can now create history by taking a minimum of just one point from their game against Prescot on Saturday and gaining promotion to the Evo-Stik Premier League – the highest division in the club’s history. A victory and three points would see them achieve a 100 points in a season.

Town Chairman Toby Macormac said: “Our fans have been fantastic all season, home and away and it will make it extra special if we can win the league trophy in front of them.

“But we will take nothing for granted and give our full respect to Prescot who will not be coming just to make up the numbers.”

Warrington are expecting a bumper four figure crowd on Saturday and have made the game all ticket. Tickets will be available for sale at the club all day Friday from 8am-8pm.

Warrington then travel to Radcliffe Borough next Tuesday evening, followed by their final game of the season – away at Spennymoor!
