Solar panels generate great news for Lymm schools

TWO Lymm schools are really starting to benefit from solar power provided directly to the schools thanks to a not for profit community initiative.

Oughtrington and Ravenbank primary schools in Lymm had solar panels installed by Lymm Community Energy last summer.

Figures show that even in February over 13% of the total electricity used by the schools came directly from the solar panels, and this will only increase in the next few months as the days get longer!

Both schools have really appreciated having their new solar panels.

David Hester, Chair of Governors of Oughtrington primary says that the solar panels provided by Lymm Community Energy have “also proved to be an excellent educational tool with teachers and parents commenting on the value of the project has brought to the learning environment of the school.”

It was investments from local people who made this possible. Jen and Peter Murphy are just one of the local families who invested in 2015.

For people considering investing in 2016 Jen said: “Investing in LCE offers a great way to contribute to the Lymm community whilst benefiting from a long term financial return. Climate change is the most
important issue facing us over the next 50 years and this is at least doing something to try to help – not only through demonstrating support for the technology and increasing renewable sourced electricity, but also through providing a superb educational resource to the young people of our area.”

Lymm Community Energy Chair, Zoe Cohen added: “It’s all about creating win:wins. Local schools benefit from saving money on energy, the pupils benefit from a great educational resource and the investors also get a decent level of return – all combined with a lower carbon footprint!”

As a not for profit local group of volunteers Lymm Community Energy are determined to help as many of the schools in Lymm as possible to Run on Sun.

Lymm Community Energy have a new share offer launch planned for late May. You can invest in shares for yourself or on behalf of your children or grandchildren and make a return of 3-4% per year. To express an interest and guarantee you’ll personally receive a share offer prospectus – please contact Zoe Cohen at [email protected] or via 07786 074741.
