Concert to thank choir patron Terry Waite

FORMER Beirut hostage Terry Waite CBE will be the guest of honour when Warrington Male Voice Choir stage their ‘Thank you, Terry’ concert  to celebrate his twenty years as Patron of the choir.

St Oswald’s R C Church on Padgate Lane will be the venue for this rather special evening on Saturday 16 April, which will start at 7.45pm with doors opening at 7.15pm.

Performing alongside Warrington Male Voice Choir will be the Bowdon Prep School Choir from Altrincham; one of the finest school choirs in the area.

Terry, who grew up in Lymm and has family in the village, first got involved with Warrington Male Voice Choir after he accepted an invitation to become the choir’s Patron, in recognition of the humanitarian role which the choir had adopted following the Warrington bombings in 1993

Commenting, Choir Chairman Bob Williams said: “Terry has been a great supporter of the Choir, since he became Patron in 1996 and we felt it important that we recognise this involvement with an evening of words and music.

“Over the years he has worked alongside the choir at many a significant concert and has arranged for us to sing in a number of interesting venues, including prisons, in support of charities he is involved with. I have no doubt it will be a fantastic evening, especially as the choir will include one of Terry’s favourites, ‘Bryn Myrddin’ in the programme and Terry will himself be saying a few words”.

Tickets, which can be purchased on the door, are £8 (under sixteen: £5). Further information is available from Warrington Male Voice Choir Secretary on 01925 815095 or by email: [email protected]
