Warrington Town part company with manager by mutual consent

WARRINGTON Town FC have parted company with manager Shaun Reid by mutual consent with immediate effect.

The Board of Directors at the club have been discussing plans for next season and beyond as part of its longer term objectives and decided they would not be renewing the manager’s contract at the end of the current season.

This decision has been discussed with Shaun and he asked to be released from his current contract to ensure he has the appropriate time to find the right opportunity for himself in the future.

The club has agreed to this request.

Stuart Mellish and Lee Smith will step up from their coaching roles to form a Management pairing, supported by the remaining coaching team.

Chairman Toby Macormac said: “Warrington Town Football Club would like to thank Shaun for all his hard work and success over the last three seasons and we wish him well for the future.”

The club will be making no further statement with full focus on the push for promotion and the visit of Ossett Albion on Saturday.

  1. How odd to plan not to renew the contract of a Manager who has a team 12 points clear at the top of the division and who created massive interest with last year’s cup run.
How odd not to value that commitment and to tarnish a reputation by disclosing this explanation now. And how utterly dismissive of Mr Macormac to think that supporters will not see this as a poor decision and a power struggle won by the wallet rather than the heart of the club.
Hoping Shaun gets snapped up by a club with true ambition. Good luck and thank you Mr Reid !

  2. Totally shocked by this announcement. I’ve been following the results and match reports through both the guardian and Facebook. Recent form has been excellent, we are surely going in the right direction. So why now, part company with the manager who has brought this turn around in form in the run in to promotion.

I think those involved need to give the fans and public a better explanation about both the departure of Shaun, and what, or, who they are looking at replacing him.

  3. Let’s focus now on OUR new management team and show them OUR fantastic support as always on Saturday. I’m sure Stu and Lee will give us 100%
The game we turn up and witness is like seeing a swan, it appears to glide smoothly along, effortlessly. What we as loyal supporters don’t see, is that underneath (behind the scenes) the work that goes into putting on a great performance week in week out.
I’m sure this decision has been thoroughly thought through by OUR board of directors with the future and best interest of OUR club at the heart of it.
