Mayor to deliver public lecture

THE Mayor of Warrington, Councillor Geoff Settle, is to deliver a public lecture on being the town’s “first digital Mayor” at the University of Chester’s Padgate Campus.

Councillor Settle uses social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to communicate directly with the public sharing news and views and interacting with public posts.

He is a former student of the Campus having obtained an MSc in Information Systems back in 2010, shortly after he was elected as Labour councillor for his local ward Poulton North.

Professor Annette McIntosh-Scott, Provost of the Warrington Campus, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming the Mayor, Councillor Settle.

“We’re sure, as a former student of this Campus, he will feel very much at home and we’re delighted he is able to share his knowledge and experience in this way.

“We hope many members of the public, staff and students are able to attend.”

The free lecture will take place on Tuesday March 8 at 6.30pm in the Lance Dobson Hall. Places can be booked online here.
