LATCHFORD Albion got off to a winning start at their new home when they defeated rivals Bank Quay Bulls 38-12 at the Victoria Park Arena.
Despite the bad weather there was a healthy crowd and stand-off Connor Muir had the honour of scoring Latchford’s first try at the new stadium when he crossed in the opening minutes. Muir also went on to complete a hat trick in the game.
The game was a good contest for both sides and credit must be given to Bank Quay who contributed to a good game of rugby played in the correct spirit.
Albion’s other try scorers were Danny Brown (2), Martin Whitehead and Lewis Wightman with Luke Hickman adding five conversions.
This Saturday sees the first game for the 2nds/Legends when Westhoughton are the visitors, kickoff 2.30pm.
Any players interested in joining whether to push for first team places or solely to play social rugby are invited down to see the facilities on offer.
