WARRINGTON is the second most improved education authority in the North West for GCSE results.
A study of last year’s results show that the  percentage of Warrington youngsters gaining at least five A*-C grades, including Maths and English, was 58.5, compared to the regional average of 55.9 and a national average of 53.8.
The results represent an increase of three per cent compared with 2014 –  making Warrington the second most improved in the region.
Cllr Jean Carter (pictured), the borough council’s lead member for children’s services, said: “I wish to congratulate the young people and their families, along with all our fantastic staff, on their achievements.
“These results are a testament to the hard work that goes on in schools across the borough and the collaboration that goes on between them to support improvement.
“In Warrington our aspirations for all children are high and we hope to see this figure continue to rise so that all young people are reaching their full potential – they deserve nothing less.
“Our priority now is to build on this success and continue to thrive as a town of top performing schools.”
