WARRINGTON Wolves crushed Leigh Centurions 46-4 in a pretty one sided bad tempered affair to lift the MBS Site Supplies cup in Simon Grix’s testimonial game.
Grix, who has signed part-time with Halifax while still involved at the Warrington behind the scenes, was unable to make an appearance following the injury which cut short his playing career at the club who signed for 10 years ago.
After the first of several brawls throughout the game, it was the visitors who took the lead on four minutes when Higson went over in the corner after five minutes for an uncoverted try.
But then it was pretty much one way traffic, with Warrington opening their account in the 11th minute when Ashton Sims went over after backing up a mini break by Daryl Clark. Kurt Gidley added the extras to make it 6-4.
Warrington soon extended their lead on 15 minutes when Sims turned provider sending Gene Ormsby over in the corner with Gidley slotting over from out wide to make it 12-4.
With Warrington starting to take control Rhys Evans was next to score, showing good pace and strength to score in the corner. Gidley was wide with the conversion making it 16-4.
Two minutes later and Warrington were over again as Gidley found a gap to score and then added the conversion to make it 22-4.
Just before the break Evans sent Lineham down the wing to score making it 28-4 at the interval and pretty much game over.
After the break Ormsby grabbed his second try on 44 minutes with further tries coming from Ben Currie, converted by Sandow , Kevin Penny and then Ormsby completing an impressive hat-trick on 63 minutes to complete the scoring.
