AS Warrington returns to normal after heavy rain and high tides the impact of flooding at Lymm and Thelwall during the festive period can be clearly seen from these spectacular aerial photographs taken by local resident David Fox.

The flooding covered local sports fields, farm land and yards, with one motorist having to be rescued by fire crews after becoming trapped in flood waters at Lymm Golf Club on Whitbarrow Road earlier this week.

David who runs Flying Fox Films Aerial Photography Lymm Cheshire captured the spectacular images on video film using a drone.

Meanwhile as Warrington escaped the worst of Storm Frank much of the town is returning to normal following various flooding problems caused by heavy rain and high tides.

At one time there were fears that the Manchester Ship Canal would burst its banks at Latchford Locks, with water levels reaching an all time high, while in the Densham Avenue area of Orford a number of homes had to be evacuated due to localised flooding.mike-hannon

Deputy Leader of the council Mike Hannon (pictured) said: “When you see how other areas of the country have suffered over the Christmas period we have got off relatively lightly in the Warrington area.

“There was a fear at one time that the ship canal was going to burst its banks but thankfully it didn’t.

“But I think we need to have a look at the situation moving forward to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

Warrington has undergone millions of pounds worth of flood defence work in recent years after at one time being listed number 10 in the country by the Environment Agency at risk of flooding.
