Man trapped in house by blazing wheelie bin

A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters at Warrington  early today after he was trapped in his house by a blazing wheelie bin which had been placed against the front door.
The blaze was at a house in St Elphin’s Close, Warrington and broke out shortly after 6am.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using a hose reel jet and treated the man for smoke inhalation before he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
A verntilation unit was used to clear smoke from the property.
Damage was restricted to the bin and the front door of the house.
Police are investigating the incident and a fire investigator was asked to attend.
In another incident, fire crews from Warrington and Birchwood dealt with a people carrier on fire on the M62 eastbound carriageway, between junctions seven and eight, last night.
All three lanes were closed while the incident was dealt with.
The fire was caused by an electrical fault.  No-one was hurt.
