TWO photographers from Warrington have been shortlisted for a prestigious national award in the 6th annual EEF/Lombard manufacturing photography competition.

Rob Watkins was shortlisted in the amateur photographer category for his images, which captures an engineer meticulously welding one of its many bespoke filters at Croft’s factory in Warrington.

He was joined by Craig Vanrooy, with his image of a Jaguar Land Rover undergoing an intensive water test.

Their photographs will now go on display at an awards ceremony in the House of Commons on Thursday 10th December where the winning photographers will be announced.

Rob said: “To be shortlisted for a fourth consecutive year is a real personal achievement, especially as the calibre of entries is higher than ever.

“To win the award would be a huge accomplishment both for myself and Croft, not to mention a great way to highlight the innovative filter designs we have to offer.”

The winners will share a prize of £5,000 of Canon photography equipment.

The competition aims to raise the profile of modern UK manufacturing by showcasing the industry’s creativity, diversity and heritage through inspiring photography.

Ian Isaac, Head of Lombard, said: “This competition is about putting modern day manufacturing in the frame and capturing how innovative and exciting this diverse industry is.

“The standard gets better every year and, clearly, Warrington’s photographers are amongst some of the best.

“These shortlisted photographers should be very proud that their images successfully capture the beauty and drama of industry. Congratulations to all of our shortlisted photographers and I can’t wait to see their photos on display in Parliament later this year.”

This year’s shortlisted photographs portray the various stages of manufacturing – from design, process and technology in action through to the finished product – and cover both traditional and high-tech sectors.
