Purse thieves active at Westbrook centre

POLICE are warning shoppers to be on their guard following a number of purse thefts at the Westbrook Centre, Warrington.

PC Timothy O’Hanlon said: “Please be aware purse thieves have been active this morning in the Westbrook Centre area.

He added: “Be aware of your surroundings at all times, a simple bell attached to your purse may be just enough to alert you if someone is trying to steal it.

“These Bells are a very simple but effective way to stop and deter thieves. These are especially popular for use in busy shopping areas or whilst using public transport when you are most likely to have your valuables stolen.

“They are two little bells which jingle when your purse is being moved. If you were not looking and someone tried to take your purse, the bells will jingle and the thief will be caught red handed.

“They are a highly successful method of stopping thieves from purse dipping.”
