A WARRINGTON team of specialist NHS health professionals who support people affected by Stroke, Acquired Brain Injuries and other neurological conditions has been nominated for a distinguished award.
Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s (Bridgewater) Community Neurosciences Team, based in Warrington, has been shortlisted in the Best Community Research Contribution category at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Greater Manchester Clinical Research Awards.
The team offers Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Specialist Nursing and Neuropsychology services in the community including people’s homes.
They were shortlisted for successfully recruiting Stroke patients in Warrington to participate in two innovative research projects funded by the NIHR and led by chief investigator Prof Sarah Tyson. The research focused on the rehabilitation approaches post Stroke, and the team made
a positive contribution to enhancing evidenced based practice whilst maintaining their busy clinical work.
Bernadette Mason from Bridgewater’s Community Neurosciences Team said: “I am delighted the team has been nominated for this award. They all worked extremely hard to recruit people in Warrington to get involved in the research projects which are so valuable in helping to improve the long term health and wellbeing of Stroke patients.”
The awards ceremony takes place on Wednesday evening in Manchester.
