MARGARET REACHES 65 – Personal account of Margaret Black from WatkinsonBlack Chartered accountants Warrington.
I felt compelled to write a personal account of my time (so far) with what is now known as WatkinsonBlack Chartered Accountants.
I was 43 years of age when I embarked on my career as an accountant with my long time friend David Watkinson.
I had almost finished my Business & Finance course (very useful for any business you may embrace) when as part of the course I had to complete 3 weeks work experience and my tutors advised that my strong point appeared to be accountancy, so who did I turn to but my pal David who had just recently set himself up in his own chartered accountancy practice as David J Watkinson & Co.
I came away from my course in 1993 with a very rewarding result of 9 distinctions but before that David had offered me a position in his firm provided I continued with a formal accountancy qualification, which I subsequently did.
For a number of years we worked shoulder to shoulder to grow and develop the practice, rising from 2 members in the firm to 6 by the year 2000 at which point David made me a partner in the firm. Realising that the name of the practice David J Watkinson & Co did not portray the names of the partners, on 18th October 2002 (my 52nd Birthday) the name was changed to WatkinsonBlack.
We have always had the desire to create a sustainable practice and we feel we have achieved this by establishing a friendly and approachable relationship with all our clients and staff and providing encouragement and training to all staff members and thus promoting this ethos within the practice as far as possible.
We have continued to grow and I am now at the ripe age (I won’t say old) of 65 continuing to enjoy my position in this truly renowned firm of Chartered Accountants in Warrington Cheshire and the surrounding areas, who offer a full range of accountancy services including: taxation, Payroll Bureau and audit services to clients.
It is at this point that I would like to personally thank all our clients, staff and associates with whom I have worked with and for during my 22 years in the practice and with whom I look forward to continue to work with in the future
And for those of you who have never met the team from WatkinsonBlack I can honestly say we are
