Vandals trash goal posts gift

VANDALS have trashed a set of goal posts donated to the community at Grappenhall Heys, Warrington.

The goal posts were donated to the community for the enjoyment of children living in the area by local resident Alan Roskell.

He even went to the trouble of writing a note on the cross bar asking for it not be vandalised.

But within a few weeks of erecting the nets on a grassed area near the walled garden, the goal posts were left trashed and beyond repair.

“There were at least 10 local youngsters enjoying the nets most nights having a kick around. It is very disappointing that someone would deliberately vandalise them and deprive youngsters of their enjoyment,” said Alan.

“It is a sad world we live in. We decided to donate them to the community following landscaping works at our own property and I am very disappointed someone would go to so much trouble to smash them beyond repair.”
