YOUNG people who are members of Warrington Mencap have received gold, silver and bronze awards for work carried out within the Gateway Awards Scheme – which is similar to the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
They received their certificates at a special awards ceremony.
Jonathan Pritchard, Lesley Davies, Brian Clare and Ian Rafferty learned many skills while working towards their gold awards.
Despite having a learning disability, they learned how to cook and bake as well as many life skills, volunteering, taking up a range of hobbies and learning how to carry out tasks as a group.
They will now mentor a group of members starting on their silver and bronze awards, under the watchful eye of their Gateway leader, Amy Noon.
