A man was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation following an unattended chip pan fire at a property in Pool Lane, Lymm, Warrington, last night.

The fire had been put out before the crews arrived but caused damage to parts of the kitchen so gas and electricity was isolated.

Firefighters had to give first aid to the man who had suffered smoke inhalation.
The occupier was admitted to hospital as a precaution.

Meanwhile earlier in the day firefighters used a hose reel jet to put out a fire involving a cooker at Shackleton Close, Great Sankey.

A high pressure fan was then used to clear the property of smoke. The crew gave first aid to a man who had sustained an injury to his foot.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty cooker.
