Students to star in haunting experience

WARRINGTON has a reputation for harbouring its fair share of spooky spectacles and supernatural secrets and Hallowe’en night at the town’s Museum promises to be one of the most spectacular!

Six students studying Performing Arts (acting and dance),  Daniel Appleton, Leah Croft, Hannah Pinnington, Matthew Jennings, Jessica Noble and Lauren Follows will be playing their part in ‘The Haunting of Museum Street’ at Warrington Museum, after a success audition for Blackwood Events, the production team behind this spooky spectacular.

Daniel aged 17, said, “I’m thrilled to have got a place; the competition was really fierce. This is a great opportunity to work alongside industry professionals.

Hannah, also 17 from Padgate, added, “I’ve got a really exciting and challenging role – I’m really looking forward to playing it at the first rehearsal.”

Rowan Arnold, a former student at Warrington Collegiate says, “It was a pleasure to work with Warrington Collegiate’s Performing Arts Department and we are impressed with how seriously and professionally they performed in their audition in such a short space of time. We were blown away with how excited the students got about having the opportunity to work with such passionate people who aren’t afraid to try something a little bit out of the box. Thank you to all of the staff and students and we look forward to working with you in the future.”

The Haunting Of Museum Street – Smoke & Mirrors by Blackwood Events is a live theatrical scare experience for guests inside Warrington Museum, on Halloween night 2015. Here they will enjoy hearing about some of the horrible stories and facts, left out on a daytime tour of the museum. Spooky actors portray the various local historical figures.

This year is the 2nd incarnation of the show after a well-received show, created last year, for a group of scouts on a sleep-over inside the museum.  The new production includes some of last year’s favourite characters plus some especially gruesome scenes which would have been too intense for the younger audience. This unique one off show is part of the closing party of the Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival which is running in various locations around Warrington between the 2nd and 31st of October.

Rowan added: “Unlike most scare attractions all our characters and stories are based on fact and historical figures so guests can learn things while enjoying the stories told by the characters.  What makes this show unique is the use of dance as a medium to tell stories, which gives an artistic touch, not commonly found in a scare attraction environment.”

Brave souls can tremble their way through this scary experience, which includes a host of surprises throughout the night, between 6:00pm and 9:00pm on 31st October at Warrington Museum. No need to book, just come along. All ages welcome however we recommend anyone under the age of 13 is accompanied by an adult.
