WARRINGTON Wolves finished off their season in style with an impressive 16-32 win at St Helens – with winger Kevin Penny having four tries disallowed by the video referee!

But Penny, who earlier this week agreed a new two year deal at his home town club, had the last laugh, as he scored an interception try in the closing minute to seal victory after Saints had threatened a fightback.

The game was just two minutes old when Penny had his first effort ruled out by the video referee.

Saints responded with the opening try on nine minutes as Greenwood found a gap to go over by the posts. Walsh converted.

Warrington hit back on 13 minutes when impresive young full-back Jack Johnson went over with Chris Sandow adding the extras to level the scores at 6-6.

On 19 minutes Warrington had another decision go against them from the video referee as Clark thought he had touched down.

On 27 minutes Penny pulled off a try saving ankle tackle on Turner in the corner.

Two minutes later Warrington tookthe lead as Joel Monaghan ensured his incredible strike rate of a try game would be maintained as he went over for his 145th try on his 145th and final appearance.
Sandow missed the conversion from out wide.

Warrington extended their lead on 35 minutes when Chris Hill ran in from 30 yards but Sandow was again wide, making it 6-14 at the break.

On 49 minutes the video referee was again called into action and this time ruled in Warrington’s favour as Ryan Atkins touched down. Sanow converted to make it 6-20.

But back came Saints, as they so often do and Swift got in at the corner although Walsh couldn’t add the extras.

Penny then had another try chalked off by the video referee for off-side and then Saints came back upfield to close the gaop to just four points as Flangan barged over and Walsh added the conversion.
On sixty minutes Brad Dwyer was brought on to inject a fresh pair of legs into the Warrington attack.

On 70 minutes Penny again thought he had scored only to have it ruled out by the video referee for a knock on at grounding and three minutes he had his fourth effort ruled out after Atkins was ruled to have pushed a Saints defender in the build up.

Warrington eventually gave themselves breathing space when Westwood off-loaded superbly for Asotasi to go over by the posts with Sandow goaling and then in the final minute Penny got his just rewards with a smart interception, with Monaghan ending his Wolves’ career by slotting over the conversion.
