AN AWARD-winning construction worker from Great Sankey has donated his prize money to Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP).

Paul Calderbank, 51, won a works’ award from Bolton-based civil engineering company Bethell Construction Ltd for his outstanding safety performance.

He has chosen to donate his £500 prize money to WDP – a charity that holds a special place in his heart.

“I am very proud of my daughter Sam Calderbank who is a Direct Payments Advisor at Beaufort Street, promoting independent living for disabled people,” says Paul.

“I have also previously volunteered at Disability Awareness Day (DAD) where I have been one of DAD’s Army. I am delighted to donate this money to a charity whose values I share.”

A cheque presentation ceremony recently took place at Bethell Construction’s company headquarters at Dane House, Europa Park.

“I’d like to thank Bethell Construction Ltd who organise this annual awards-giving to recognise the importance of on-site safety, and to congratulate Paul on his fantastic record,” says Dave Thompson MBE DL, Chief Executive of WDP.

“On behalf of our Board, I would like to say a huge thank you to Paul for his extremely generous donation to our charity.”
