A WARRINGTON bride-to-be held a hen party with a difference – to raise money for a cancer charity.
Jenny Hill, aged 29, held the event for 80 friends and family at Woolston Mission Hall and raised £850 for Maggie’s Merseyside, a charity which
provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends.
Kathy Wright, centre head at Maggie’s Merseyside said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been a part of Jenny’s very special day. Her charity hen party was a huge success and it looks like everyone had a great time! “Everyone at Maggie’s is hugely thankful to Jenny and her family for choosing to support us and raising the amazing amount of £850.”
Jenny’s Mum, Dawn Hill said: “It is a great feeling to be able to give a little back to those that deserve it.
“My husband and Jenny’s dad Anthony, was first diagnosed with throat cancer in Sept 2012 and again in July 2014 and was told in March 2015 that they couldn’t cure it.
“He’s now on a trial using Nivolumab to treat it which is doing well so far. We started visiting Maggie’s Merseyside in December 2014 to access some of the services they offer. I can’t say enough good things about Maggie’s Merseyside and the support and kindness they have shown to me and my family”
Built in the grounds of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Maggie’s Merseyside is a warm and welcoming place, with qualified professionals on hand to offer an evidence-based core programme of support that has been shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing.
It relies on voluntary donations to support and develop its unique, high quality programme of support. The charity’s aim is to make the biggest difference possible to people living with cancer and their family and friends.
