WARRINGTON Wolves skipper Joel Monaghan signed off with a hat-trick of tries in his final appearance in the primrose and blue at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in a one sided 48-6 victory over Catalans Dragons.

Monaghan also slotted over a late conversion, as did Roy Asotasi on his final appearance in front of the home fans as the Wolves ran in nine tries.

Monaghan scored either side of a Ryan Atkins try, while Jack Johnson and Ben Currie also touched down to put the Wolves 26-0 ahead at the break.

Atkins crossed again after the break and then Monaghan collected Stefan Ratchford’s kick to complete his hat-trick.

Tries from Johnson and Richie Myler extended the lead, before a late consolation try for Dragons from Stan Robins four minutes from time.

The result kept Warrington sixth in Super League 8s, one place ahead of Catalans but with little for either side to play for.

Monaghan’s treble was his first in Super League since a win over Widnes in September 2014, and came just three days after the club announced the 33-year-old would be released afrom his contract a year early at the end of the season.

One of the biggets cheers of the afternoon came when Roy Asotasi was given the opportunity to bid farewell to the Halliwell Jones Stadium with a late conversion.
