Golden Wedding couple’s “road show.”

A FORMER Lymm couple  who now live in Berkshire have been celebrating their Golden Wedding with a series of parties in the South and also at the Lymm Hotel for local friends and family.
Alan and Sue Davis (nee Kirkpatrick) were married at St Mary’s Parish Church 50 years ago – by two ministers.
The Rector, the Rev Stanley Casson and the Rev Cyril Steley, from Lymm United Reformed Church, both officiated at the service.
It was decided to have two ministers because Alan’s family and Sue were members of the United Reformed Church while Sue’s family had been involved with St Mary’s. Her grandfather, William Kirkpatrick and her father Douglas Kirkpatrick were both “captains of the bells” for many years.
Alan and Sue were both from Lymm families. Alan was a former butcher at Dewhurst’s in the village and Sue worked at L. Thomason’s on the canal bridge.
They were both members of the Lymm Country Dance Club, where they met in the 1960s. They were  and still are, very active in Scottish Dancing with Alan still teaching dancing.
They moved South in 1980, Alan to become national account manager with Glaxo Smith Klyne, then Beecham Proprietaries, later to become sales training manager.
They are now both retired but have a very busy life in Crowthorne, in Berkshire  and at Bracknell St Paul’s United Reformed Church and caring for old folk in the area.
Their daughter Lorna had special T shirts made up for their “road show”.
They will complete their “Golden” road show with a holiday in Lanzarotte.
