UPDATED: THE A49 Winwick Road, Warrington was closed in both directions following an incident in which a man was seen to fall from a bridge.
The road is now reported to be re-opened but at the time police were at the scene with traffic queuing in both directions between the M62, junction nine, at Winwick and the A574 Cromwell Avenue and Sandy Lane West junction.
Cheshire police were advising motorists to try and avoid the area if at all possible.
The road was closed while investigations continued but is now re-opened.
