School to get new “indoor-outdoor” space

PLANNERS at Warrington have approved proposals for a new canopy at a village primary school that will provided a space that can be used for both indoor and outdoor activities.
The proposals are at St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School, Grappenhall and were opposed by a nearby resident on the grounds of harm to the appearance of a conservation area and loss of privacy.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee were told, however, that because of the small size of the canopy and the fact that it was within the existing school site, it would not have any impact on the conservation area.
In addition, it would be green in colour, reflecting the colour of the existing boundary fencing and surrounding planting.
It would serve both indoor and outdoor uses as it would have roller shutter walls.
There was no expected to be any increased noise disturbance over and above that associated with the existing school and would be more  than 32 metres from the nearest house, avoiding any harm to the living conditions of nearby residents or any loss of privacy.
