POLICE are investigating an incident in which a car was wrecked by fire at Lymm early today.
The vehicle was found ablaze near Lymm High School, in Oughtrington Lane and firefighters from Stockton Heath used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus.
Police were informed because it was suspected the fire had been started deliberately.
Last night, two adults and two children were rescued by fire crews from Warrington after they were trapped in a lift at the Golden Square shopping centre.
Earlier, fire crews from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Runcorn were called to a field off the A56 Chester Road, Preston Brook, where a combine harvester was on fire.
The blaze was extinguished and the surrounding area dampened down to make sure the scene was safe.
