THE first-ever fruit and vegetable festival for children and families at Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden was taking place today.
A celebration of freshly grown fruit and vegetables, the event included making “veggie creatures” apple cartwheel snacks and creative crafts. There was a garden trail quiz and themed competitions.
Prizes were up for grabs for the best fruit or vegetable, fancy dress, veggie creature and best 3D miniature allotment design.
The walled garden will be the place to go again on Wednesday, October 28 when there will be a Pumpkin Party to celebrate Halloween.
There will be a guess the weight of the pumpkin contest, a pumpkin trail and prizes for the spookiest costume and scariest pumpkin.
