Smoke alarm alerts neighbours to cooker fire

FIREFIGHTERS and police had to force an entry into a property at Howley, Warrington, after neighbours were alerted by a smoke alarm.

The smoke alarm was set off by a cooker fire, involving an unattended pan, in the kitchen of a ground floor flat on Sidings Court in Howley on Wednesday evening.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet to deal with the fire. Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus.
