THE headteacher at Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, Warrington, has praised her staff and pupils for “fantastic” results in this year’s GCSE examinations.
Beverley Scott-Herron said that the students and staff had worked extremely hard this year and that there had been a real culture shift in work ethic, attitudes, expectations, aspirations and standards and this was clearly having a positive impact across the school.
As a faith school Sir Thomas Boteler placed a lot of emphasis on developing the whole child and this was done through Christian values and teaching.
“The Religious Education results are testimony to this with a third of students achieving A* and A grades and 94 per cent achieving A*-C.”
There had also been a significant improvement in Mathematics with 64 per cent of students achieving A*-C, despite ever increasing government standards. The maths results were the highest they had been in recent years.
The Triple Science results were the highest ever achieved at the school, with many students receiving A* and A grades.
There had been an increased national emphasis in the importance of languages and the students did particularly well in Modern Foreign Languages.
