Deaf community seek help

0

WARRINGTON’S deaf community are seeking help to bring their Sports & Social Club into the 21st century.

It last had a major refurbishment in 1991 and now Warrington & District Society for Deaf People are looking for a bar fitting company who can provide ideas and support the development of the design and fitting.

Warrington is unique in that they are one of the few places in the UK which still manages to attract Deaf people into their Social Centre.

Whilst the Deaf Community is changing, there are vulnerable individuals who benefit from our centre and they want to continue to provide a happy, welcoming environment and preserve deaf culture.

It is a very important place for the Deaf Community and is regularly used for socialising, OAP afternoons, bingo, snooker matches, parties, Deaf Café, children’s parties (Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Family Fun Day) and our BSL Signing Choir.

Working in Partnership with Warrington Borough Council they recently held a Dementia Awareness Presentation at the Centre tailored for the Deaf Community and have a fully kitted out ‘Equipment Aids Room’ based here with an extensive range of equipment to support people with hearing loss.

Any one who can help with the refurbishment, please contact Penny Spiers at Warrington Deaf Centre, 11-13 Wilson Pattern Street, Warrington, WA1 1PG Tel: 01925 634640, Email: [email protected]
