Decision delayed on garage-into-house plan

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have put off a decision on a plan to convert a stone-built garage into a dwelling after hearing of objections from the local parish council.
Chairman of Walton Parish Council Bob Hardie attended a meeting of the borough councils development management committee to put forward the parish’s objections.
They belive the development at the locally-listed house in Walton Road would represent overdevelopment of the site and be out of character with the area.
A nearby resident also argues that proposed provision of off-street parking is impractical.
As a result, the committee decided to carry out a site visit before reaching a decision.
The plan involves converting the garage into a dwelling and also rebuilding an existing vinery to create a garden store and bike store.
Planning officers are recommending it be approved.
Planners say the stone-built garage is a prominent feature on the street scene and one which positively adds to the character and appearance  of the area.
While there is space for two park two vehicles there is adequate space on-street in the vicinity without creating residential disamenity or highway safety issues.
