Ground work starts – but market stays open

ESSENTIAL ground works are due to commence at the front of Warrington Market this week as part of the ongoing re-development of the Bridge Street Quarter – but the market will stay open at all times, with full access maintained to all entrances for the duration of the works.
Cllr Mike Hannon, deputy leader of the borough council said: “We would like to apologise for any disruption, but these works are a necessary step in the ongoing redevelopment of the town centre and in particular the opening of the new temporary market in 2017.
“We continue to offer support to our traders and have taken every step to ensure the market remains fully open and accessible to our customers throughout.”
A programme of family entertainment events will take place on the market forecourt throughout August including live broadcasts from Radio Warrington and appearances by the Frozen Sisters.
The works to the forecourt will be completed in advance of the hugely popular Medieval Fair on September 5, which will take place in and around the market and throughout the town centre.
