Travellers arrive at Bruche Park Warrington

7

THE ongoing problem with travellers setting up on public land in Warrington continues, with a group moving on to Bruche Park.

Two vehicles arrived at the park at around 4pm, today (Monday), with others arriving at 6pm, with around 12 vehicles, mostly motor homes and a couple of caravans, parking up at the park.

Police have been informed and have been active in the area.

A group of travellers were recently moved on from Victoria Park off Knutsford Road, as well as Silver Lane, Risley.

  1. Visited the site at 8.30pm tonight and spoke to two residents close to the park. The park does not seem to have any visible barriers or gates to deter travellers. I could have easily driven my car onto the park with no trouble at all, given the continuing problem I cannot understand why the council have left this park unprotected, no gates, barriers at all… an open invitation to any travellers in the area ??

  2. It’s past time that the law was changed to outlaw these scum from parking up on public spaces and leaving a trail of filth and theft in their wake. Wouldn’t take much for WBC to protect entry to these parks with large rocks to prevent access by motors. Bruche has a large kids play area so these scum should be evicted instantly on grounds of child safety.

  3. The amount of clean up money. And insurance pay outs to the neighbours from theft and litter heavily out weighs the cost of a couple of barriers. They follow no rules. Have dangerous dogs and need to be stopped. Helen Jones we all listened to you for your campaign. Where are you when the residence need you??

  4. I have never known so many coming to Warrington in such a short space of time.
Are they doing it on purpose to push the council a bit harder into supplying them with a permanent transit site with facilities ?

  5. My partner and I were walking our dog on the park when they arrived, they literally floored it onto the field and drove round it like a destruction derby, very close to where the kids play area was. Unbelieveable.Complete menace – they need stopping, shouldnt be able to just literally invade anywhere they see fit. I have no doubt that if anyone had challenged them they would have been ran over

  6. Pity nobody videod them driving like that on the public park, maybe the police could have done them for dangerous driving. Saying that probably not as they seem to be able do do whatever they like with no consequences……

  7. Perhaps the council should spend money on making Bruche Park less accessible to vehicles rather than the thousands they have spent on those unnecessary planter boxes they just stuck in the middle of carriageway on Manchester Road.
