VIDEO: WARRINGTON Wolves’ Head of Coaching Tony Smith expects new Aussie signing Chris Sandow to be a real “Live Wire” when he pulls on the primrose and blue jersey.

Smith said: “He is creative and an instinctive player with a great kicking game. He is also fantastic at creating tries.

“He is looking for an opportunity and still got a point to prove as a player. He is just the right mix for what we are looking for and to get him early is a bonus.

“We are really excited by what he will bring. He is a real live wire and has livened up the changing room already.”

Sandow was a watching spectator as the Wolves bowed out of the Challenge Cup at Headingley on Saturday, after arriving in Warrington last Friday.

Smith added: “It is always difficult for a player to step off a plane and straight into a team – but I know he is keen and enthusiastic to get on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Sandow said he was “excited” to be at Warrington.

“I always play footie with my heart on my sleeve and will do the same here.”

Following the press conference Sandow was introudced to the Warrington fans.

Sandow trained with his new team mates for the first time today and is expected be included for Friday’s trip to Leeds in the Super 8s.

Meanwhile the club have confirmed that Simon Grix who has been out injured long term, will be joining Wakefield on loan until the end of the season, to get match fit.

  1. Well another defeat down to players not playing to their capabilities. Also to some bad tactical decisions.Only to mention two why oh why did both experienced props have to be taken off both sides of halftime coupled with Harrison off with concussion, already down with Westwood suspended team had no forward power.
Then to cap it all plays Wheeler
straight after injury, where was Evan’s.rant over but will be there next week because we are Warrington wolves’.

    • I think the biggest problem was everyone expected Warrington to walk it into a final – the fact the Hull KR fans out numbered the Wolves fans 2-1 speaks volumes.
All I’ve heard since Saturday is from people moaning because they have had to cancel their hotel bookings.
Nothing should ever be taken for granted in sport – upsets happen – quite a lot.
I don’t care what anyone says – complacency can creep into any team if sub consciously they think the are already on the way to Wembley.
A quick try and several more early chances and it looked one way traffic. When warrington turned up in the second half they looked capable of winning – but then the weather didn’t help and Hull KR had the belief.

  2. But Chris Sandow is one player who believes the outlook remains bright, not just for the Parramatta Eels but also his own turbulent career. The latter is of particular significance for the halfback once dubbed the Aboriginal Alfie, because the last time he entered the final season of a contract he waltzed away from none other than Russell Crowe with one of the biggest deals in NRL history.
