Motorway to close for resurfacing

WORK has started on a £900,000 scheme to resurface the M62 between Junction 11 at Birchwood and Junction 10 at Croft.
Highways England – which regards the section of motorway as a key commuter route – is completely resurfacing the westbound carriageway b etween the two junctions.
Project manager John Lyssejko said: “We’ll be completely resurfacing the carriageway between the two junctions to give drivers safer, smoother and more reliable journeys – getting rid of potholes by planing off the old surface, resurfacing and also installing new road studs and road markings.”
All the work is being done overnight between 10pm and 5am
using single or two-lane closures.  However, the westbound carriageway will be totally closed nightly for up to 10 nights – during week nights only – from Monday, August 10.
A clearly-signed diversion will be in place with drivers sent onto the southbound A574 Birchwood Way towards Birchwood and onto the roundabout with Woolston Grange Avenue – following this southbound to re-join the motorway network at junction 21A of the M6.
The project is due to be completed by Friday August 21.
