WARRINGTON’S parks and open spaces have been showcased in an array of stunning photos, sent to the borough council as part of a new digital competition called #snapwarrington.

Theme for June’s contest was parks and open spaces and lots of photographs were sent in via the council’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram accounts.

The impressive winning photo, taken by twitter user @Col_D, was a panoramic shot of Lymm Dam which is now featured on the council’s Facebook and Twitter banners.

Two runner-up shots were also picked, one from Jessica Avison on Facebook of her dog relaxing in the sunshine and one from Creative Remedies of Queen’s Gardens.

The theme for July and August is summer fun in Warrington and the council is encouraging people to send in pictures of them, their family and friends enjoying the fun via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram using the hashtag #SnapWarrington.
Cllr Hitesh Patel, the council’s lead member for personnel and communications, said: “We are very impressed with the quality of photos  we received for #snapwarrington in June. This campaign is all about celebrating our town, encouraging pride in our communities and engaging with our customers in new ways.

“Thank you to everyone who has sent in their photos and please do get involved in the next theme this summer.”

The next winner will be selected on August 15 and will have their photo featured on the council’s Facebook and Twitter banner. The best of the other photos will be shared on the council’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram accounts.

All the June entries can be viewed by visiting the council’s Pinterest winners’ page.
