IT’S game on at Radley Common as more than 200 local people celebrate their new multi-use games area (MUGA).

The MUGA is an outdoor fenced area and can be used for games, such as football, basketball, netball or tennis and is a great benefit to the community, and was officially opened by the Mayor at a recent fun day.

Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “This is great news for the community and the park, which already has a football pitch, a five-a-side pitch, a children’s play area, and community centre.

“There is a real buzz about the park and the MUGA adds to what already is a great space for families and friends to play and get fit at the same time.

“There is a strong sense of community here, as shown on the fun day, and I know residents will continue to visit and enjoy all of the benefits, especially during the summer months.”

The council’s cancer network information Ivan also attended the fun day to offer helpful advice and information.

The fun day was organised by Warrington Borough Council’s central neighbourhood team in partnership with Golden Gates Housing Trust and Your Housing.

More than £500 was raised by local groups at the event.

The MUGA was funded by a grant from WREN, an environment fund, to improve the park and give the community a facility they can use for leisure or recreation.
