“Get out and enjoy your local park”

RESIDENTS of Warrington are being urged to get outside and enjoy the range of parks and green spaces across the borough during “Love Parks Week.”
It is a national initiative, running from July 27 to August 2 and celebrating parks and green spaces and dedicated to raising awareness of their importance.
Warrington is a particularly “green” borough, with six Green Flag parks, Forest Parks, Ecology trails, canal meanders and more formal Victorian parks and gardens.
They provide wildlife habitats, recreational and sports facilities and simply some time out away from the hectic pace of modern life.
There are plenty of events taking place during Love Parks Week, such as family fun days, farmer’s markets, open gardens and nature trails.

There has been significant investment in sports and recreation facilities in Warrington in recent years, with both the 300-seat Victoria Park sports stand and the Bank Park bowling pavilion both nearing completion, both funded from the council’s capital programme.
Playground facilities are being upgraded and replaced in many parks across the borough to provide excellent play facilities for children and young people.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the borough council’s lead member for leisure, community and culture said: “We have a host wonderful parks and green spaces in Warrington and we should be rightly proud of them. There is no need to travel far to experience the positive benefits to mental and physical health gained from simply being outside, enjoying nature and
having fun. Let’s get out there and enjoy it.”
