Callum Wallace, 18,  who played for Warrington Town’s reserves and youth team last season, will be joining Azusa Pacific, located in Azusa, California where he will study and play for the “Cougars” soccer team.

He will have the opportunity to combine business studies at university alongside playing high level football for the next four years.

The scholarship has been gained through the assistance of PASS4Soccer Scholarships.

Callum, from Grappenhall Heys, is no stranger to the US.  He has family over there and has holidayed there for the last 10 or 11 years.

Callum’s achievement in winning such a high value scholarship and placement is in recognition of both his academic achievements to date and his athletic ability as well as an impressive performance in the
PASS4Soccer US Coach Showcase held at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre in December last year.

He said: “I chose to attend a US school as it offers a much better balance between furthering my soccer career while I study to achieve my degree. The emphasis on soccer is so much more serious there than at any universities here in the UK. I am looking forward to the training and playing competitive games regularly as well as the chance to study in an amazing location.

The location and the welcoming ‘family’ environment I experienced when I visited were amazing. The players also made me feel very part of the team and they also play football in the style of possession and passing football that suits the more technical side of the game I play.”
