Business leaders step up to support Active charity

ACTIVE Cheshire, the lead body for sport and physical activity in Cheshire and Warrington are delighted to announce two new appointments to their Board of Directors and also two exciting new appointment opportunities.

Kathy Cowell OBE DL, has been working with Active Cheshire as a Trustee since July 2014 and is stepping up into the role of Vice Chair and Chair of Governance.  Kathy is a board member for a number of other local organisations including Your Housing Group, Central Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Cheshire Young Carers.  With her background working in both the commercial and public sectors, Kathy provides a wealth of experience in governance and organisational change.

Stuart Davies has also been working as a Trustee on the Active Cheshire Board since July 2014 and is now taking the position of Chair of HR, Finance and Risk.  Stuart comes from a highly successful career in private sector leisure and management and is General Manager of the St David’s hotel near Chester.  He brings with him, strong commercial skills and a desire to work to exactingly high standards.

Mark Greaves, Chair of the Active Cheshire Board said: “I am extremely proud of the talent and dedication that the Active Cheshire Board possesses.  The skills and experience that we can now draw on within The Board put us in an excellent position for building the growth and strategy of the organisation and I’m looking forward very much to working with Stuart and Kathy.”

Anne Boyd, CEO of Active Cheshire added: “We are fantastically pleased with the announcement of Kathy and Stuart’s appointments.  They bring with them unrivalled experience in their fields and this makes a wonderful  contribution to the overall skillset of our Board of Trustees.  It is also important to see local female leadership talent in a position of prominence.”

Active Cheshire have also announced two vacancies for Non-Executive Trustees on their Board of Directors.  These are voluntary positions which require a commitment of 6 days each per year.
