WARRINGTON Borough Council’s highways team moved swiftly to investigate a mystery hole in the road at the entrance to Mote Hill Court, after it was reported by Fairfield and Howley councillor Kevin Bennett.
The hole was described as “an accident waiting to happen” by Cllr Bennett.
He said it was about eight inches in diameter, but was very deep and on closer investigation was found to be much larger under the road surface.
Cllr Bennett said he had investigated the hole after receiving a complaint from a Fairfield and Howley resident.
“If an elderly person, or child, or anyone were to step into it, it could cause a serious injury.
“If a car drives over it and the road surface collapses it would be stuck there.”
