A LOCAL family will have a day out to remember at Drayton Manor theme park – thanks to Lymm Round Table.
The Biggest Wish will see more than 100 families from across the UK attend Drayton Manor on Saturday July 4, for an event which marks the 25th anniversary of Round Table’s Children Wish.
Lymm Round Table have nominated a family from their community with a child aged between 4 and 17 years who is suffering from or has recovered from a life-threatening illness. They’ve also contributed towards the costs of the family attending the event.
They’ll be joined on the day by Olympic silver-medallist Sharron Davies who is taking part in the event marking the 25th anniversary of Round Table Children’s Wish.
The swimmer-turned-TV presenter will play a huge part in the celebrations being organised by the National Association of Round Tables of Great Britain and Ireland at Drayton Manor Theme Park, Staffordshire.
Davies, who was awarded an MBE in 1993, will take part in the day-long event along with children, aged 4-17, and Round Table “wishmakers” who will descend on the park on 4th July.
In the evening, Davies, aged 52, will be the guest of honour at The Biggest Wish gala dinner being held in the theme park’s Tower Suite, which will aim to raise funds for Round Table Children’s Wish, a charity which grants hand-crafted wishes to children with life-limiting illnesses.
Director of Round Table Children’s Wish Karen Winchcombe said, “The Biggest Wish is such an amazing way to mark our 25th Birthday here at Round Table Children’s Wish.
“Our charity is about children who have been through so much, battling illness and receiving long and often painful treatments. It is only fitting that children are at the centre of what we do and this event gives even more children a chance to have fun whilst creating long lasting memories.”
Each family attending the Biggest Wish has been nominated by a local Round Table, with the event being supported by Drayton Manor, the Round Table Trust and individual Tables across country.
Round Table president Marcus Jones said: “Over the past 25 years Round Table Children’s Wish has made a difference to hundreds of children and their families.
“The Biggest Wish is an ambitious project which has seen many of our clubs pull together to provide some much needed happiness to these children and their families.
“Round Table members make a difference to their own communities every single day, but the Biggest Wish is largest co-ordinated project for a number of years.”
